Getting engaged is one of the most exciting times in your life. Not only are you looking forward to forever with your partner, but now you have a wedding to plan! It can be tempting to dive right into the fun stuff, but it’s important to sit down with your partner and get on the same page before you start planning. There are some key questions that you’ll want to ask yourselves to ensure your wedding is exactly what you both envision. If you don’t answer these questions first, you’ll be overwhelmed with decisions later on. We’ve put together a list of the crucial questions that we think partners should discuss in order to start planning their perfect wedding!

What is Your Budget?

Wedding planning isn’t all glitz and glamour; It’s never fun to think about the money, but unfortunately, it’s really at the center of everything you’ll plan. Determining your budget before you dive in will make it easier to stay on track, and ensure you’re not overspending. It can be a flexible budget, as things are subject to change as the date gets closer, but at least having an estimate will allow you to plan within your means.

How Many Guests Will be Invited?

This question is important to consider while planning your budget. Thinking about your guest list, and who you want surrounding you on your special day. Determining if you’ll have a large wedding with extended family, friends, coworkers, etc., or if it’ll be a small, intimate ceremony, with just your closest friends and family members. Whichever you choose, just be sure to ask yourself who can you not imagine getting married without? Who you share your wedding day with is what ultimately makes it an incredibly special day.

What Vendors Do We Need?

Next, you’ll want to determine what vendors you’ll need for your wedding. There are no “set-in-stone” rules for how your wedding has to be, so you can choose what’s important to you and allocate your budget accordingly. For example, some people care more about their photographers and videographers to remember their special day, so they’re willing to spend a little extra here to get top quality vendors. Others will focus more on the entertainment aspects such as DJs or live entertainment, the caterers, etc. You’ll also want to decide if you need makeup artists, hair stylists, wedding coordinators and designers. Make a list of the vendors you’ll need and book in advance to ensure their availability.

What do we Want the Day to Look Like?

Now, for the fun part, choosing your wedding decor and inspiration to make your day look like what you’ve always dreamed of! You’ll want to decide on a color palette for your wedding and maybe even a theme. Do you want it to be luxurious and elegant, or casual and relaxed? Choosing a style will help you to coordinate and stick to a specific look.
